Cut and Paste

  • If you want to save an e-mail message without including information such as names, subjects, dates and times, or if you want to save only a portion of the content of an e-mail message, you can “cut and paste” all or a portion of it into another software application such as Word, Works, Notepad, etc.

  • Use your mouse to highlight all pertinent information in the e-mail message you want to save.

  • Click on “Edit” on the top toolbar.

  • Click on “Copy.”

  • Use the Start button to go into Programs/Accessories to open the word processing application you wish to use.

  • Click on “Edit” on the top toolbar.

  • Click on “Paste.”

  • Or alternately click on the paste icon on the toolbar - it looks like a clipboard.

  • The information you want will now appear in the application you have chosen. You can format this document and save it to a file as you normally would a word processing document or you can print it. Close the application and return to your e-mail program.

A tip:
If you have information in a word processing file you want to send to someone, you can use the same “cut and paste” method in reverse to move that information from the file to an e-mail message.

Quick Tip:
Highlight the words you want to copy, right clickon your mouse and left click on "copy." Put your cursor where you want the copied text to go, right click on your mouse and left click on "paste."
